Lucia Schaefer - Teacher/Early Childhood Specialist

Lucia Schaefer is a multi-instrumentalist and pedagogue with nine years of teaching experience in the DC Metro Area. She graduated from Christopher Newport University, located in Newport News, VA, in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and completed her Master of Arts in Teaching in 2012 with a concentration in Choral Music Education.

Mrs. Schaefer is certified in Arts Integration, the Kodály Method, and the Orff Process. She merges these different pedagogies to fit the unique learning needs of her students. She has presented both regionally and nationally at conferences on topics relating to music education, equity, arts integration, and early childhood pedagogy.

Mrs. Schaefer is currently the Middle School Music Director for Browne Academy, an independent school located in Alexandria, VA. There she runs the Choral, Band, Orchestra, and General Music Programs. Additionally, she has been the Mezzo-Soprano soloist at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in downtown DC for eight years and the K-12 Musicianship Teacher for the National Children’s Chorus for four years. Mrs. Schaefer resides in NW DC with her husband Thad and her dog Sadie.
